When Nick and Josh met in New York a few years ago, what they set out to create in Manhattan was a sanctuary in which anyone could come and enjoy some great food, great coffee and some friendly Banter.

After finding the perfect spot at the end of 2016, the dream of Banter finally became a reality - right here on Sullivan Street, in the heart of Greenwich Village. Another location was added on Hudson Street in late 2019, before being disrupted with the rest of NYC hospitality in 2020. The team stuck together and survived the pandemic and has continued to thrive with the return of outdoor and indoor dining in the city.

At the beginning of 2023, it was time for Josh and Nick to step away from the business and pursue new restaurant ventures in Australia and the US, respectively. As part of the sale of the business, Banter is now an employee-owned enterprise, with all team members participating in dividends and equity ownership.
